My name is Richard Hill. I was born with a serious heart defect that required several open heart surgeries. I didn't quite have the childhood I would have liked and my dreams for what I would have liked to do with my life are not possible for me. I thought I was past all that when, at 16, I got a new aortic valve that allowed me to live a "normal" life.  But that was 6 years ago, and here I am, in the hospital again, for the 4th time in the last few weeks, with no chance of going home soon. Apparently my heart condition and the surgeries to repair it put me at risk for an infection in my heart. The doctors discovered bacteria growing in my blood but have not been able to find the source of it all. The effects on my body are severe with high fevers, muscle aches and pain, strong spells of nausea and dizziness, and even swollen lesions in my fingers and toes. It's effecting my kidneys and my blood pressure, making taking care of myself impossible. 
I lost my job the first day I called in sick. I do not have insurance. My mom lost her job being here to take care of me. Since she's been the only one here to help me she hasn't been able to work again. 
We have been trying to figure out how to deal with the financial problems this prolonged illness has caused. Even after the doctors find and fix the immediate source of the infection, I will require a minimum of 6 weeks IV antibiotics at home and someone to care for me there. 
After hearing about GoFundMe we decided to give it a try!  With your help we can have our home to go to when we eventually get out of the hospital, we can afford the medications and other expenses this illness has caused. We can maybe even keep the lights on!
