"I Have Bowel Cancer.
Still trying to get used to this phrase, but it is reality, although it won’t define me.
In the last 4 weeks I have been told I have a sizeable tumour, that it was cancerous, that I’ll need surgery and had said surgery. After I have recovered from this operation, chemotherapy will begin.
The Medical Team have expressed how unexpected and ‘unlucky’ this is for someone of my age.
Yeah, it’s a bit shit. Okay... quite shit.
But, we don’t see ourselves as unlucky. We’ve had the best medical care with doctors and surgeons who are the best, and the care I’ve received here at St Vincent’s has been top of the line!
But mostly, we are lucky because we have had and continue to have unconditional love, support and help from the most wonderfully incredible family and friends Who we will never be able to thank enough
It has been 8 months of continuous symptoms for me, but I listened to my doctor and she listened to me.
If something isn’t right, don’t ignore it, get it checked!" Claire,30
After a whirlwind 8 months Claire finally got the answer to why she wasn't well. She has had to quit her job, which has left her husband the sole income earner, leaving finicial strain with the normal cost of living and medical bills!
Claire is such a beautiful soul and always there for everyone, even through all her sickness, good days and bad, she has still been the most amazing mum to her 4 girls! She is a fighter and will beat this!!
Your support in helping this family is greatly appreciated no matter how big or small!!
