Jason Edwards Motorcycle Accident Recovery

Donation protected
On May 26, 2020 my Brother-in-Law, Jason Edwards, was enjoying his peaceful early morning drive to work when an SUV traveling in the opposite direction suddenly turned in front of him.  Jason crashed into the side of the SUV and was thrown off the bike.  He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital with an initial diagnosis of multiple broken bones and internal bleeding.  Thankfully, his helmet prevented brain damage.

He was induced into a coma, has undergone multiple surgeries, and is awaiting additional surgeries within the next few days to weeks.  Jason is a strong man and has a long road to recovery ahead as the extent of his injuries are still unknown. Within the first 24 hours, he went through 2 surgeries for internal bleeding.  The next day, he underwent a third surgery for his pelvis that was broken in several places and to work on an open fracture of his arm.  As the hours have advanced, it seems that more and more trauma is being discovered.

Currently, he has 2 broken arms with dislocations at the elbow. The left arm has an open fracture which means the bone was protruded through the skin.  Two broken legs with torn ligaments in the right knee.  They also believe he has dislocated or broken his ankles.  But his pelvis is definitely the worst with 6 or more fractures/breaks including his hip sockets.  If that wasn't enough, he also has a broken tailbone.  On the 27th, his surgery was 10+ hours and he received many units of donated blood.  They have sedated him and are keeping him unconscious and on a ventilator for a few days to deal with that amount of pain.  We hope that the motorist's insurance will cover his medical bills but aren't even sure at this point if they have insurance.  Jason is unable to work or make a living for many months.

The doctors won't give them any predictions yet as to how long his recovery will be.  When the hospital does send him home (in weeks or months?), my sister will be left with taking care of him and their 2 small children along with the help of family and friends.  Jason is a loving husband and father as well as a helpful friend and neighbor.  He has a 6 year old daughter and a just turned 2 year old baby girl.  It is not in his genes to normally accept help but it is desperately needed at this time!

We know the Hampton Roads community is a close knit one and we are asking help in raising d $10,000 to help relieve some of the financial burden and expenses off their shoulders in the coming months.  Anything will help! Thank you in advance for opening your hearts and all the continued prayers.  Drive safe and watch out for motorcycles!  GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!
