Read For The Globe

Tax deductible
Like many theatres, Shakespeare's Globe is struggling for real and substantial funding. Hundreds of us from around the world are raising donations and awareness by reading a selection of our favourite Shakespeare plays over 48 hours on the May bank holiday weekend, 23-25 May 2020. We invite you to join us to listen - and donate to support a wonderful theatre - at our livestream here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoP9oZUzCT9UA4tIhIm6NgA/videos

The Globe, as an unsubsidised space that relies mostly on audiences for its income, is in dire straits due to the financial pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Read For The Globe started as a group of friends who met on the Shakespeare’s Globe MA course, Shakespeare Studies - we love the theatre, it’s such an important space for artists and scholars to experiment with new ideas about theatre in Shakespeare’s time and how it connects to theatre now.

More information about Shakespeare’s Globe Trust: Shakespeare's Globe is world-renowned performing arts venue, cultural attraction and education centre located on the bank of the River Thames in London, UK. They celebrate Shakespeare's transformative impact on the world by conducting a radical theatrical experiment.
