National Young Leaders Conference 2014

Hi everyone! My name is Cindy Hsieh and I am a freshman at Peters Township High School in McMurray, Pennsylvania and I am a student to be nominated by my high school teacher to represent my school district and the state of Pennsylvania at the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC on July 27, 2014 – August 2, 2014. I understand that some people spend their entire lives wishing they had taken a chance on their dreams. However, I am not one of those people. I am fundraising for support in order to achieve my goal of representing my community because I believe it will help me achieve further dreams of mine. If I could be given this gracious opportunity to attend the Leadership Conference, I will do everything in my power to learn and build on my leadership skills to help others in the process of learning. I will be surrounded by many other exceptional students from around the country for this leadership and career exploration program. The Conference will take place for 10 days and engage in interrelating myself with the nation’s leadership, understanding the works of Congress, outing elite universities, and collaborating with my peers to further develop our leadership abilities. This influential experience will facilitate me to associate myself with respected professionals in various fields while building connections with students who will be my potential colleagues.

Were I to be honored to attend this opportunity, I would be willing to devote my mornings, afternoons, and evenings in the summer, to help better my leadership skills. I would become a vocal individual and absorb all the lessons I could learn every day. At Peters Township High School, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and am in the American Honor Society. I was received High Honors Award in John Hopkins University Talent Search. I have provided my service to local community and won the Presidential Gold Service Award and Congressional Bronze Award.
I am involved in the tennis team, Jazz Band, Forensics Speech and Debate Club, PHASE Club ( Peters High school Advancement for Scientific Enrichment Club), InterAct Club ( Volunteering and Project Club), and the Music Composition Club ,which I am President of. This Conference will be my next goal after month’s progress of being named Vice President of my Freshman Class and learning to fundraise for my classmates and opportunities for them. I really look forward to always helping others and spreading as much help as I can with my skills. I have had my two logo designs chosen for both my district’s Character Counts and the Western Pennsylvania College RoundTable.

My music composition has won national PTA Reflection 1st & 3rd place in the state of Pennsylvania this and last year. My art work has won the 1st place in the state of Pennsylvania of national PTA reflection last year.
I really wish to make my school and community proud on advancing my leadership skills on a national stage and already am extremely grateful to have been selected to attend.
I will take every chance I have to help others out in any way I can with my knowledge learned. I believe in myself to be able to achieve something greater in life and hopefully everyone reading this will as well. As with being a part with this program, like elected leaders, I am projected to fundraise for support of my goal in representing my state while in Washington, D.C. Your financial support epitomizes hope and belief in me. I sincerely appreciate your time in reading this and contributing to my future success.
