Masks for our Heroes

ATTENTION: Potomac Elementary School (PES) Families, neighboring schools, the entire Potomac, Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg Communities (we are all in this together!),
As we all know, our heroic doctors, nurses, and medical staff are working around the clock, risking their lives and putting the lives of their family members at risk, in order to save others during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Many friends and members of our community work on the frontlines of this epic fight at Suburban and Shady Grove Hospitals (including the PES PTA President Golru Ghaffari, an ER doctor at Suburban, but there are many, many others), and have brought to our attention that these local hospitals are not immune to the national funding-related shortage of personal protective equipment. This is totally and completely unacceptable.
We can do something about this! OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $10,000 IMMEDIATELY TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE MEDICAL MASKS AND DISTRIBUTE THEM EVENLY BETWEEN THESE TWO AREA HOSPITALS. These are the hospitals which, G-d forbid, members of our community would likely need to go to if we contract this virus and need medical support.
If you are able to, any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Our immediate goal is $10,000 (which would purchase approximately 2,500 masks) but we realize we could actually raise much more. For example, if each PES family contributes $100, this could easily turn into $40,000 quickly, which would have a much greater impact. And we would love to involved our neighboring schools and others in the community in this united effort - which would bring in even more relief to our hospitals and medical workers!
One hundred percent of the proceeds raised will go straight to the purchase of masks. This is not a PTA-sponsored or PES-sponsored project; this is an initiative by families in our PES and greater community. As the majority of us sit at home, safely social distancing, let's show our heroes that we are behind them, and are so appreciative of their courageous efforts to keep us safe.
