NEW YORK MARATHON FOR EPILEPSY
Hey! I’m Ella but I’m guessing if you are here you know that. In 2018 I got diagnosed with Generalised Epilepsy, at the time I had no idea what that meant. Surprisingly, the seizures weren’t the hard part (my family might disagree with that). It was all the other side effects that come with having Epilepsy. People often refer to Epilepsy as the invisible disease because you can’t physically see the illness. The isolation from friends and loss of control I had within my life for the first couple of years was the hard part. Along with medication side effects causing me to be constantly tired, my speech being affected, the lack of emotions I had with every situation and the anxiety I developed when being in social areas where some may see me have a seizure, just to name some. Thus, coming to the reason I am running for this foundation. I’m hoping to raise money to put towards better research to control seizures that is not just medication. I wish everyone was more aware that it’s not just the seizures, it’s the 100 other problems and obstacles that Epilepsy affects someone’s life. SO THANK YOU! if you made it to the end of this, whether you donate or not, i appreciate you.
