My toy poodle, Lulu, was admitted to the hospital last night and put on an IV to receive fluids to treat severe dehydration. This afternoon we found out that Lulu needs emergency surgery on her small intestine and the cost is astronomical. I am the last person to ever ask for financial help, so please know this is a last resort for me and I hate the fact that I need to do this. I have qualified for Care Credit, but unfortunately, what I qualified for is not enough to cover the bill which is an estimated $11-14k depending on how things go. I am only looking for help to cover the difference (care credit gave me $9200). Anything that you donate can help. We took Lulu in back in 2018 when she was 3 years old, and she has truly become a key part of this family, and we would do anything for her. Thank you in advance!
Update: Lulu is out of surgery. They found foreign matter in both her stomach and small intestine that they had to remove. The stringy substance they found had started to cut through her small intestine, causing three holes. Had they not done the surgery when they did, it would have started leaking which would have been extremely life threatening for her. Because of this, they had to remove a portion of the small intestine. The surgery went well though and she is waking up. They said the next 3-5 days are very important and she needs to be under careful watch.
Second Update: Lulu had some complications this morning after last night’s surgery. She’s not critical but will have to stay another night in the hospital. She was quiet and seeming uncomfortable so they did another ultrasound and found her stomach to be quite large, filled with fluid, and no movement in her stomach. They put a tube in that goes up her nose, down her throat, and into her stomach. With this, they got out 200mL of fluid, which they said is a lot for such a small dog. They’re also starting her on a medication that will help get things moving through her GI tract.
Thank you so much to the people who have donated and shared to help us out here. I’m so stressed and knowing that I have people in my corner is really shining some light into the darkness for me. ♥️
