The Daisy Fund

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for being here.

At the start of January 2022, we brought home this adorable, old lady cat and started to call her Daisy.
She was found as a stray, wondering around on the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, BC.

A local animal shelter took her in and they have been helping tremendously with her ongoing care.

The vet aged her at approximately 15 years young and she was found in pretty rough shape. She had a bad skin condition that was being treated, bad ear infection and her teeth require a dental procedure. Those are all conditions that are manageable and we went into a Foster to adopt.

The initial time at our place was blissful, we did a slow introduction to the rest of our cat family and she picked friends that she loves to play with. Her absolute favorite thing is soft plush bedding and infinity catnip.

Within 3 weeks, she started urinating blood and straining to urinate for hours. She was also urinating all of our house.
She’s had 3 vet appointments, X-rays and ultrasounds and endless medication, including pain meds, anti inflammatories, antibiotics and muscle relaxant to help her pee easier. Nothing is working.
The Vet recommended we seek an internal medicine specialist and he’d send out a referral to that vet clinic.

We just found out today, that the wait list, even for URGENT cases, is incredibly lengthy. Over a week wait.
Our only hope now, is to go through emergency and critical care, have that veterinarian work her case up and hope they can assist with early access to specialist.
We’ve been in communication all morning about this and will be headed to the ER first thing tomorrow, unless urgently tonight.

We’ve opened this gofundme to assist with veterinary costs. Initially just having the referral would have cost us a grand or so. But going through emergency medicine means thousands more dollars are expected. They will likely keep her overnight, paying for hospitalization fees and further diagnostic work up.

We will do what’s best for her. Some friends have reached out to ask how to help, giving you guys a safe and trusted place to donate.

Please do not feel obligated to donate!! But know that any amount will go directly to caring for Daisy.
We promise to keep everyone updated!

Right now, she’s at home with CatDad enjoying extra treats and extra catnip.

Thank you for reading!! Our family is sending you all the biggest hugs <3
