On Sunday, April 14th, Rocky, my daughter Amy's sweet tabby cat, Rocky, was spending a sunny afternoon sitting in our window sill like he always does, waiting for her to come home. While he was sitting there, her neighbor's pit bull/mastiff mix came into her yard and yanked her poor baby out of the window and viciously attacked him. Her doorbell camera caught part of the violent attack here - viewer beware, it is graphic: https://ring.com/share/6679793353633633133. Rocky was missing for three days and we thought he was dead until he was spotted alive but in critical condition today.
She rushed him to the vet, and after examination, it was determined that his jaw is crushed, he has many puncture wounds and internal bleeding, and is severely dehydrated. Rocky underwent surgery to have his jaw wired shut and a feeding tube inserted. He is unable to eat or drink and will only be fed through the feeding tube. He has a long, painful, and expensive recovery ahead of him, but he is a tough cat!
Unfortunately, the owners of the dog that attacked Rocky are not cooperating and have offered no financial restitution. The authorities (police and animal control) are involved, but while that is sorted out, Rocky will be ready to come home to continue his recovery, possibly as soon as tomorrow.
If you are able to help with his vet expenses, we would greatly appreciate it since the owners of the dog are not taking responsibility for their dog. Any amount will help. Thank you!
