Diesel Dick's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
As some of you know and have heard, my father's business, Diesel Dick's was completely lost in a fire early on 10/31/19. The location at 508 N. Madison, had been in business as an auto repair shop since 1982, specializing in cars and trucks with diesel engines. Now, the building and it's contents have been reduced to a still-smoldering rubble.
While we are so very grateful that no one was injured either in the shop or in nearby homes (and that my brother, John Dick, who resides at the shop was staying elsewhere that night), it is still a tremendous loss for our family. "The Shop" is not just a building full of items, it is an extension of my dad and our family. It is a product of a lifelong dream, fulfilled. A safe sanctuary for family, friends, and community. A place where children have played, grown, learned to work, were shown love. A place that stimulated creativity, innovation, invention, and where the wildest ideas and dreams (crazier than those 1970s rock riffs wailing on the CD player) came to fruition. Something like this cannot be replaced, however a lifetime of memories continue to warm our hearts and souls.
We are so grateful for the tremendous outreach of love, support, and prayers coming from far and wide. This fills our hearts with joy, feeling so supported and remembered during a difficult time.
Many of you have offered support in various ways. While the business is insured, it is a complicated and unknown process of how long it will take for assessments to be completed, and insurance payments to be received. Obviously in the short term, Diesel Dick's cannot operate, and there is therefore no income for Alan "Diesel" Dick, or his son, John Dick, who is an employee of Diesel Dick's.
In response to so many that have asked to help, this GoFundMe page has been developed. Diesel is a man who has always felt more comfortable giving help and charity through work, service, storytelling, daily action, and tithing than he has receiving it. It is his actions of humility and belief that God will provide rather than a prideful heart that makes receiving monetary help difficult.
To continue supporting the entire Diesel Dick's family and community, please continue to pray, send messages of support, and make calls. However, if you feel called to help in a financial way, please donate to this cause, and share this link and this legacy far and wide. (It is possible the funds raised that are in excess of what is needed may be donated by the recipient to his church or local community).

Thank you for reading, sharing, and continued support. And a reminder to us all: "Good things come from all things," - Alan Dick.
