Back to Iraq.
Well folks… I’m headed to Iraq here in a couple days to teach Iraqi and Kurdish journalists in basic life saving trauma skills. This course is being generously sponsored by the Rory Peck Trust and Talking Eyes Media, and they have covered a few days of my basic expenses. After the course, I’ll be focusing on humanitarian issues due to the awful and violent conflict in the country, due to the presence of the Islamic State.
I do have my flight and hotel expenses covered, as well as body armor and a helmet, but I don't have much beyond that, and still need to purchase an insurance policy through Reporters Without Borders. If you could find it in your hearts, could you please help me out in any way, it would be greatly appreciated I have yet to ship out rewards from my trip to Guatemala, but will be shipping them on Monday. Rewards for this trip will also include a rough draft copy of my upcoming photobook "Operation Iraqi Afterparty" which will only be published in book form.
Wish me luck, and if you’re around BWI, Munich, Ramstein, Kaiserslautern, or anywhere else, I’d be stoked if I could crash on your couch for the night.
From Foundry fundraiser
I recently received a scholarship to the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop in Antigua, Guatemala this summer. This is an enormous honor for me, and I am thrilled at this opportunity.
The travel and hotel costs are not included in the scholarship, and must be paid out of my own pocket. This is an enormous opportunity for me, that I can not pass up. Sadly, I am between jobs right now, and am not certain that I can come up with the funding to go on my own.
I have a massive catalog of prints from my time in school, and have chosen to release 40 of them as rewards for supporting me. As an added incentive, I will send everyone who can contribute at least $5 a photogram postcard as well. Every dollar counts, and I am grateful for any amount that anyone can provide.
