Please Help My Mum Get The Surgery She Needs...
Earlier this year, my mum, Annise, was rushed to A&E after experiencing sudden and severe rectal bleeding. At first, she was told she had haemorrhoids that had haemorrhaged and was sent home to follow up with her GP. But after a series of tests and referrals, we received a very different answer: doctors found a tumour in her colon.
Thankfully, the tumour is not currently cancerous, but we’ve been told it’s showing characteristics that mean it needs to be removed urgently — before it becomes more serious.
Unfortunately, the initial surgeon felt the operation was too complex for him to safely carry out. He explained that if complications arose, he may need to remove her entire colon. This was devastating to hear and left her deeply shaken.
He has since referred us to a private specialist who is confident he can perform the surgery successfully. However, the cost of treatment — including pre-operative scans, blood tests, anaesthetic, medication, and post-op care — comes to upwards of £5,000.
We are doing everything we can to raise this amount quietly, without sharing it publicly, in order to respect my mum’s privacy. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial pressure and bring us closer to getting her the treatment she needs.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and standing with us during such a difficult time.
