Sophies Story

Hi! We are Sharon and Kirby, and along with all of our family, we are creating this page for an extraordinary young lady and her beautiful family, a family that would never ask for anything, but during this difficult time is something they truly deserve.
Sophie, a remarkable 15 year old (almost 16) is one of the smartest, funniest, strongest people we know. With her quick wit, and amazing sense of humour, has kept us on the edge of our seats laughing despite what life has just dealt her with.
On Thursday the 12th of June, Sophie's mum Jacquie brought her to Monash Childrens Hospital, where she was taken in for emergency brain surgery due to severe swelling in her brain. She came through the operation with incredible courage and her wicked sense of humour still intact, but a week later her family received the devastating news. Sophie has been diagnosed with a form of incurable brain cancer.
This is news no family should ever have to face, let alone a 15 year old girl.
Sophie and her family live in the country, in the beautiful town of Stratford, more than 2.5 hrs away from Melbourne. Her Mum Jacquie, working full time and taking care of everyone, has always been so selfless and there whenever you need, her Dad Damien, a FIFO worker and her Sister and best friend Reagan, who have an incrediable bond that should never be broken. Sophie loves anime, her two dogs Jet and Ash and her Lizard Ronny.
Now, they face the most difficult journey of all, and they need time. Time together, time to focus on Sophie, time to create memories and hold each other close, without the added burden of any financial stress.
That's why we have created this Go Fund Me Page on their behalf.
We want to give Sophie's family the chance to simply be together during this unimaginable time. To take time off work, to stay close to Sophie's side and not have to worry about the everyday and financial side of things that doesnt stop, even when your world does. Time to spend together as a family and make memories. Anything we raise will go towards all of this.
Every donation, no matter what size, will help lift that weight. And if you are not in a position to give, simply sharing Sophie's story would mean the world to us.
Sophie is a bright light. She is brave beyond her years, she is deeply loved by everyone who knows her but more than anyone in the world, is her Mum Jacquie, Dad Damien and Sister Reagan.
Please help us give this beautiful family the time they need to surround her with that love and nothing else.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
