#9KforMaxten
Donation protected
One of our Spartan 4-0 families lost their son on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018.
Precious little Maxten passed away at the young age of 9 years old.
#9KforMaxten is a fundraising campaign to raise money for Maxten's family as they struggle to get through this difficult time and to raise awareness about child suicide and depression. We ask that you make a donation of $20 or more and committing to run 9K between Friday, June 8th and Sunday June 17th by midnight EST. All proceeds for your donation will go directly to the family.
During your run please do it in silence and in memory for this little Spartan!!!
Additional donations are always welcome.
Thank you for your generosity.
Adapted quote from Maxten's mom, Sarah:
Cherish every moment with your kids, even when you think that they need a moment away. Our kids need and want attention. Sometimes they may not know how to express it, even when you tell them it is okay. Let your kids have a say in how they are raised. Their happiness is what matters. Their minds are developing, they need to be happy, and have a chance to make the right choices. Like all people, they will make mistakes. I don't mean to stop being a parent and doing what is best for them, but at least consider what they are saying. See it from their point of view. We need to remind ourselves what it was like to be a child and not be heard. Most important though is we must cherish our children. Grab, hold them close and kiss them. Cuddle them until they can't stand it because at any moment they can leave this world. Whether it is to remind us of what we have and not take advantage of it, or to prove their point that is as a parent we can be wrong. Tell them to learn from our mistakes, to be better than we are. I don't want his death to be for nothing. He impacted my life and my entire family. I want him to impact the world and help create awareness and changes with parenting and suicide awareness. It can happen at any age. Look for the small signs, even if they seem like the happiest kid in the world. They are there but sometimes we just don't want to see them.
