Hello Everyone,

I want to thank you for taking the time to read about Jerry. Jerry, came to Buffalo Greyhound Adoption retiring from racing after suffering a broken leg. Prior to his transfer, he was evaluated by an experienced vet and at that time it was deemed that Jerry had a broken leg, which meant Jerry would have to rest for a while. The good news was that the vet said it was a clean break and because Jerry is only 2 years old he would heal well and be able to run around and enjoy retirement.

The day Jerry came in as a foster, he could not get comfortable, he would lay down and whine. Jerry was seen at a local clinic for a wellness visit, at that time it was determined appropriate to take him to an Emergency Clinic for an imaging study as one was not performed as of yet. Later that day Jerry was seen by an Emergency Clinic vet and it was determined that Jerry sadly did not have a clean break and the break actually involved his joints. Left untreated Jerry would suffer a life of pain and have an unstable ankle it was recommended that Jerry have a surgical consult to determine the appropriate procedure, however, the vet stated it would most likely be an arthrodesis. This procedure is the surgical immobilization of a joint by fusion of the adjacent bones. This is not the news we were hoping for, and it could not come at a worse time. The Emergency visit alone cost $689.42.

BGA is a non-profit organization that has been providing homes for retired greyhounds since 1991, at this time our treasury is low and we cannot afford the surgery Jerry so desperately needs.

Today we come to you to ask for your help, we are asking for donations to help pay for Jerry's surgical procedure and post-operative care. Currently, we have set the goal at $5,000. However, the final total will be known tomorrow at his pre-surgery consult.
