I am a scout leader for one of Valerie's children and want to help their family navigate this challenging time. The troop leadership agreed that we want to support the Cook family in anyway that we can. Right now, the financial needs are staggering.

 

We can provide financial support so that the family can focus on caring for Valerie. They have already faced significant medical bills related to treating Valerie's MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome, which is a precursor to Leukemia). This syndrome impacts her body's red blood cells and she will need a bone marrow transplant.

In addition to the cost of the medical treatment, Valerie and Marcus will need to stay in a hotel for an extended period of time while Valerie is treated in the new year. A gift of $100 will cover one night of additional housing expenses.
