Stacy's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Stacy is an energetic, loving, fun, and giving person. As a single mother, her daughter always comes first. She is constantly putting other peoples needs ahead of her own and will always be the first one there when you're in need. Unfortunately Stacy has been dealt an unfortunate hand. She was recently diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) Leukemia. Here is a look at her journey so far:
Stacy was not well for months, not knowing what was wrong. She had bloodwork done which showed extremely high white blood cell counts. On June 13th, she went to a hematologist and was immediately admitted to the emergency room at Mount Sinai Hospital. After many blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy, on June 16th Stacy was told she had AML Leukemia. She spent 34 days in the hospital receiving chemotherapy and blood transfusions. Since then, she has been admitted five more times to the hospital. Once for an induction, once for a staph infection and the other times for Consolidation Chemo. On October 1, Stacy learned that she would need a bone marrow transplant in order to achieve and hopefully stay in remission. As of now, her bone marrow transplant is schedule for January 10, 2022. She's had a spinal biopsy and five bone marrow biopsies so far, with many more to come. While Stacy isn't in-patient, she has to have blood drawn and possible blood transfusions 2-3 times a week.
Stacy has been extremely very positive through all of this, but the financial burden is beginning to settle in. She is on long term disability receiving 50% of her annual salary. Besides everyday bills (utility, food, etc), going back and forth to the hospital and parking 2-3 times a week, medications, and procedures is starting to add up. Any donation will help Stacy offset these bills.
