Ezra Harlowe is one of the most genuine, caring, supportive individuals I know, and I am proud to call them my fiancé. Ezra is transmasculine non-binary (they/them) and has struggled with gender dysphoria their whole life. This has seeped into all areas of their life, from their social interactions to work, and especially their self-confidence and mental health. They have been on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and legalized their name change, but have also always dreamed of having a flat, masculinized chest. Top surgery would give them that. It will allow them to finally feel at home in their body and to love themself the way I love them. I want them to be able to wear a suit at our wedding and feel nothing but confidence.

Ezra does not like to ask for help, but top surgery is a major expense, so they have agreed to let me help them organize this page. They were able to schedule surgery with Dr. Ashley DeLeon at the Crane Center for January 28th, 2022, which is incredibly exciting, but does not give us a lot of time to get funding. Ezra is incredibly lucky to have insurance through their job and chose the Crane Center because of its reputation for working with patients and insurance companies to minimize the cost of surgery, and because it’s local, there will be no related travel expenses. Ezra does also have some savings, which they will be putting towards medical costs. Even with that, many expenses remain, including: Out of pocket cost for surgery ($3250), medical supplies for recovery ($100), hospital fees, etc. Additionally, they won’t be able to return to work immediately after surgery and will need to recoup enough of the lost income from (three weeks off, $2000) to be able to buy groceries and pay rent and utilities. Our goal based on this is $7,000. Any money raised over this amount will be redistributed into other gender affirmation surgery fundraisers.
