My name is Andrea Quinteros and Raquel is dear to my heart because she has worked with my family in my home. She has taken care of my grandad when he’s gotten sick and has helped around the house as well with the cooking and cleaning. Her and her mom have both worked with my family in different occasions. I have gotten to know Raquel better in the last few years and when she told me the reason she couldn't go to university was financial I decided I wouldn't let that happen without giving it a shot here. I hope you are touched by her story as much as I am.
Raquel wants to study a 3 year Marketing program so that in the future, her and her mom can manage their own sewing business. Her mom Ana has worked in factories where she has been treated poorly and paid pennies. Ana loves sewing and currently sells clothes independently. Raquel wants to educate herself so she can be more prepared to run their business properly and make it grow as much as they can. With your help Raquel will be enrolled at Universidad Tecnológica. She will need a laptop and I also would love to help her with food expenses for the first year. My mom has told her she can live in my house during her studies rent free and we will also cover her amenities costs. I also think it's wise to have a $500 cushion for any books or other expenses she may need during those 3 years. She wants to work part time during the first 2 years to be able to pay for the third year herself.
Here is a breakdown of the costs (in USD):
*Enrolment Fee (once every 6 months): $80
*Monthly Fee: $63
*Total Cost for one semester: $458
*Total Cost for 2 years: $1,832

*Other University expenses: $500
*Food expenses Year 1 ($150/month): $1,800
So, adding up the total university cost of 2 years, laptop, other university expenses and food expenses for year 1 comes to $4,432 USD ($5,625 CAD), the goal of this campaign!
