My story is simple, I have been a paraplegic since an auto accident in 1980 and after an active 35years using a wheelchair my spine finally broke again.

There are lots of words and syndromes we could talk about in more detail but really the bottom line is due to lack of muscle control below my injury level my scoliotic (twisted) spine finally broke loose to an extent where my cord was severely pinched and could no longer be ignored.

This all began in december of 2014 and i have now had two major spinal fusions, had a colostomy installed and spent over 4 months in the rehab hospital and as of today I have spent the last 7 months wrapped in a body jacket. 

I had my first surgery in June of 2015 and after 5 months 15 of the 16 screws loosened and had to be removed, I underwent a second reconstructive surgery where they basically fused my entire spine from the thorasic to the sacral levels the current surgery placed 24 screws and 4 titanium rods into my spinal column as well as a cadaver bone and stem cell cage to fuse the damaged t-9 t-10 verterbrae.

I made it though the first year of surgeries, co-pays and hospitalizations by working hard,. hustling and using my savings and even selling some old family hierlooms but i am now out of the hospital and using iv drug therapy for osteoporosis that costs almost 2700.00 per month and also having to pay for personal caregivers to dress me and help take care of me, about 300 a week and this doesnt count the two latest surgeries, it was also neccesary for me to borrow to buy a new chair and seating to position me upright and give my body a chance to heal properly.


So if you know me you likely know how hard it is for me to ask for help, what i can say is i really dont have another option, so i intend as of now to recieve gracefully that which i need to heal my body so i can return and be of service to the world.
