On July 5th, my family received some incredibly difficult news. After many tests, scans and a biopsy surgery, it was confirmed that our beloved Debbie has a cancerous brain tumor. Doctors diagnosed her with Glioblastoma, an aggressive cancer with no known cure. While this news was devastating and knocked us all off of our feet, we are jumping back up and getting ready to go to battle with my aunt to give this cancer a run for its money.
If you know my Aunt Debbie, you know that she loves with a pure heart. She has dedicated every ounce of herself to being an incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She has a passion for bringing sunshine, love and learning into children's lives and has spent her life doing just that. She has helped care for foster children, given her time to YMCA programs, led Girl & Boy Scout troops and has spent the past 31 years as an in-home preschool and daycare provider.
Time is more precious than ever. We know that every moment is a treasure and we are fighting for every possible minute. My aunt will undergo a more extensive surgery later this month with a longer recovery time while also beginning chemotherapy and radiation. We have done further research on alternative medicines, diets and treatments. These hospital bills, treatments and alternative medicines will be very costly. With all this going on we don't know how much strength she will have to dedicate to her little ones at her preschool, but knowing the kind of woman she is, it will be to the last drop.
My Aunt Debbie never asks for help, but we know reaching out for your support, prayers and love will give her the best chance to come out of this on top. If you have it in your means to give anything at all, we would be overwhelmed with thanks and gratitude. Even if you aren't able to give monetarily, just sharing this fundraiser is impactful. Your prayers and positive thoughts are invaluable and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
