BACKGROUND

My name is Joseph Thompson, Co Founder & Writer at Fracture Comics. We are a Bay Area based independent Comic Book Company dedicated to bridging the gap between American Comics and Japanese Manga. Our current titles include Hellfire, Hellfire Incorporated, Death of Darkness, Edge of the End, ARK: Academy of Research and Kinesis, Sugar Rush, Godhand, and Essex.

After attending 30+ conventions we hosted our own in September 2019 - The inaugural Fracture Comix Expo at the East Bay Community Space in Oakland.

PRESENT

These have been difficult times for everyone and I have tried my best to stay creative. Not easy. Making comics is my passion and it has kept me grounded. Unfortunately in August 2021 my artist and friend of eight years Carl Borla Embalzado passed away due to Covid.

His loss hit hard...

Lance Catan and I lost a teammate... and I was ready to throw in the towel.

But after a couple months of reflection I've decided to continue both Hellfire and Essex, the projects that Carl brought to life with his buddy Lance. I owe it to both of them and to myself to see these stories through to completion.

THE PROJECT

I am making this GoFundMe so that I can get projects rolling again. Specifically Essex . Your contributions will help me find a new artist and allow me to continue production on the series.

Essex is an 8 issue series set in the same universe as Hellfire and Death of Darkness. It follows 18 year old Monica Marie Essex, a magic user struggling with bipolar disorder. After a major betrayal to the magic community, she seeks retribution from the one responsible.

Issue #1 is currently complete.
