This is Kim Cormier — my beautiful, brave big sister.
In April of 2022, our lives changed forever when Kim was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. What started as one diagnosis quickly spiraled into something even more terrifying: the cancer had already metastasized to her lymph nodes and liver.
With the kind of strength most of us can only imagine, Kim endured six grueling months of chemotherapy — each session a battle, each day a fight to keep hope alive. After months of sickness, fatigue, and uncertainty, she underwent surgery to remove the part of her liver that had been overtaken by tumors. For a while, we let ourselves breathe. The scans came back clear, and we held onto that fragile hope that maybe — just maybe — she had beaten it.
But cancer is cruel.
Not long after that brief moment of peace, Kim was told the cancer had metastasized again — this time to her lungs. Without hesitation, she faced another major surgery to remove the lower lobe of her left lung. Once again, she fought. Once again, she survived. And once again, the scans were clear.
But cancer wasn’t done.
Just three months later, Kim received devastating news. The disease had returned to her liver — this time with a vengeance. Ten tumors. Ten new battles waiting to be fought. She is currently undergoing another round of aggressive chemotherapy, pushing her body and spirit through yet another storm in the hope of shrinking the tumors enough to attempt one more surgery.
If this next surgery is not possible, Kim will face a heartbreaking reality: lifelong palliative chemotherapy. Not a cure, but a way to hold back the tide for as long as her body can bear it.
But Kim is not giving up. She never has.

A promising alternative treatment using scorpion venom therapy could help keep the cancer dormant and give her the one thing she’s been fighting for all along: time.

This is not just a story about cancer. It’s a story about a woman whose courage defies description. About a sister whose strength inspires everyone around her. About fighting for every moment, every memory, every heartbeat.
This is Kim. And she’s not done fighting.
