My dad, Ken Oblazney (59 years old) was alert and oriented, and totally independent. Hw was the sole provider for his family, working 50 hours a week.
After discovering he had a 90% heart blockage, he was scheduled for cardiac bypass surgery at Hackensack hospital 5/14/19.
On 5/17/19 he was awake, sitting up, and eating breakfast. My mom called him telling him she was coming up to visit. They talked and joked on the phone.
There was an incident in the hospital that no one will disclose information on... but when my mom arrived, he was tied to the bed and sedated. He has lost all ability to care for himself. He is alert but confused. He cannot swallow or speak well. He has to be tube fed (but keeps ripping the tubes out) and can no longer walk.
They have given him no diagnosis, we have no prognosis on how he is expected to recover, and no plan on how to get him home.
We have been denied his medical records and denied a transfer to a hospital close to home.
Now, 6/7/19, he is still in the hospital. This hospital has been an absolute nightmare. They have gone 2 days without giving him any form of feedings!! He is wasting away and looks emaciated.
My Crippled mother, with Rheumatoid Arthritis, is now driving 3 hours a day to go see him and provide him the care he needs.
She is now 2 months behind on rent and can no longer afford internet services. They have taken a drastic cut in their finances, and now are having mountainous hospital bills accruing.
They need help, and anything that could be offered would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
