On February 2nd my brother in law Dewayne had a massive heart attack, often referred to as the widowmaker. Dewayne is a fun loving father of two boys 12 and 11, he loves teaching his sons life skills like hunting and fishing. He is the maintenance director at the local hospital where he lives in, Lakin KS. He is a loved father, husband, son, uncle, brother and best friend. He loves to be on the lake and have a good time with friends. Dewayne is an outdoors guy and if you know him you know he’s got a heart of gold and can make anyone laugh. His favorite saying is “beat it nerd” we long to hear him say this again. He loves to have a good time and is carefree and fun. He has touched the lives of so many and is all around a great man. He was intubated and put on life support. He was transported from Lakin KS to Hayes KS via life flight. Once in Hayes they took him into surgery and placed two impeller devices that pump his heart for him. Dewayne’s heart was very damaged and wasn’t working at all. Hours later they life flighted him again to Kansas City MO where he as admitted into CVICU on life support. A few days after being here they were able to take the right side impeller out of his heart. He now only has the left side in. Here we learned that his kidneys had failed. We started dialysis and continued the supportive therapy he had been receiving. Dewayne is very sick and still in critical condition. Every day is a challenge but we are believing God for his recovery. We are needing help with his medical expenses and traveling costs for family. Please donate whatever the Lord leads you to donate. But more than anything we need prayer. We need unceasing prayer. Please put Dewayne on all your prayer lists at your local church and pray for him during your quiet time.
