My dearest and best friend, Maria, has spent her life caring for others. For years, she has been a source of unwavering support, helping people navigate the most challenging moments of their lives. As a grief counsellor, a death doula, and an employee at Roswell Park Cancer Center, she has devoted herself to comforting others through cancer and loss.
She made the selfless decision to leave her many friends and her job in Toronto to return home to Buffalo and start all over again, to be closer to her aging parents and be there for them when they need her. Now, Maria needs our help.
Earlier this month, Maria underwent emergency life-saving surgery. Following the procedure, she was diagnosed with cancer, which has put her in an incredibly difficult position financially. She will have to undergo yet another surgery in a few months, and as a result, she has been forced to stop working to focus on her recovery, chemotherapy treatments, and prepare for her upcoming surgery.
Her disability payments of $170 a week are entirely consumed by her healthcare insurance premiums, leaving her with no income to cover basic living expenses, like rent, food, and other necessities.
Maria is one of the most private and selfless people I know. She would never ask for help for herself, so I'm doing it on her behalf. Every donation, no matter how small, will help alleviate the immense financial burden, allowing Maria to focus on what matters most: getting well. All funds will go directly to her to cover any medical bills, living expenses, and, most importantly, her recovery.
Please consider donating to help my dear friend and share this campaign with your networks. Let's show Maria the same love and support she has so generously given to countless others.
