Dawn is a devoted mother and loving wife whose world was turned upside down this year when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare and aggressive blood cancer. In February, what seemed like a simple case of the flu quickly became a life-threatening emergency when she was rushed to the ER with sepsis. Her condition was critical, and doctors fought tirelessly to keep her alive. After weeks in the hospital and countless tests, the devastating truth was revealed—Dawn was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare and aggressive blood cancer.
Since that day, Dawn has faced this battle with incredible strength and resilience. She has endured weekly chemotherapy treatments, hoping for remission. Dawn is now facing her toughest challenge yet: a stem cell transplant, her best chance for survival.
This December, as families come together to celebrate the holidays, Dawn will undergo the transplant at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. This means she will spend Christmas and New Year’s away from her home and family, enduring weeks of isolation to protect her fragile immune system.
The journey ahead will be grueling. She will need to rebuild her immune system, which means staying in temporary housing near the hospital for up to eight weeks. All of this comes with enormous financial burdens that no family should face alone.
