Help Jenn Stay In Her Home

Hi Friends and Family. I need your help.

This is hard. If you know me, you know I am a person who would rather eat my own arm than ask for help. Despite obsessively seeking work for the past 8 months, I have fallen behind on rent and am facing eviction.

I have been working diligently for months, trying to find employment, and trying every possibility I could find to avoid this, including applying for rental assistance at four different organizations (the ones I qualify for as a single occupant with no children). Unfortunately, the help I've been applying for has not materialized. If I do not come up with the back rent immediately, I will face eviction in November.

Details are hard to share, but here goes.

As many of you know, I left my job managing transitional housing in mid-February due to increasing danger and death threats, and my employer compounding my safety issues by removing my security staff. At that time, I had enough funds to cover 3 months of rent which seemed like a completely reasonable time frame to find new work. I have never had difficulty finding a job, so with the encouragement of people who love me and cared for my safety, I took a leap of faith based on my confidence that I'd have a new job quickly. I mean, have you met me? I'm rad and I work hard!

After 8+ months of sending out my resume, the response has been dismal, and the interviews I have landed have not resulted in a job. I know I am not alone. The job market for anything above entry level employment is ROUGH right now.

I have exhausted my Unemployment benefits, and have taken part-time employment at a friend's business to cover as much as possible. However I have not been able to pay my rent the last three months, and come November 5th, if I can't pay $6,950 (3 months overdue rent + November rent) I am slated to be sent to eviction.

My resume/cover letter/LinkedIn are being rebuilt to improve my chances at employment, and it is my greatest hope that I will be back to earning enough money to support myself quickly. The amount I have set as a goal would cover rent through December, giving me a bit more time to find work now that I have new tools.

I was encouraged to put together a GoFundMe, because it's too much to ask of any one person, but hopefully my community as a whole could help me come up with the funds to stay in my apartment.

All that said, if I am unable to raise enough to cover the rent, I may be able to negotiate a Mutual Termination of Lease and move out. Any money raised at that point would be used to secure a new place to live.

If you have read this far, I thank you for caring, whether you are able to contribute or not. You are lovely, and I appreciate your consideration with my whole heart.
