Hello Friends and Family of Mattie,
Never as close friends of Mattie's did we think that we would be starting a go fund me, but Mattie and her family need everyone's help through this difficult time. In 2014, Mattie was diagnosed with Crohn's, an autoimmune disease. After experiencing the effects of this disease, mattie began having unexplainable symptoms during this last month. Mattie has been diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma. While it is a relief to know her diagnosis, we can only imagine the battle she has ahead of her. Mattie will soon undergo a procedure to receive a port and shortly after she will begin chemotherapy treatments.
Mattie is a 22 year-old college student attending Wittenberg University pursuing a B.S. in Exercise Science in hopes of becoming a paramedic after graduation. Mattie's love of children and dreams of being a mother have led her to connect with the community through baby sitting. Mattie's very connected to several social groups on Wittenberg's campus and is regarded as a friend to many. Her need to put others before herself is a motivating force in her professional and social life.
We as friends, as well as Mattie, are very thankful for the support system that she has during this time. As a college student this is the last thing Mattie thought she would have to worry about, which is why we are seeking extra financial support for her and her family. Due to the intense nature of chemotherapy, Mattie's inability to work during her treatment process causes for concern when considering her financial responsibilities. As some can understand, living with an auto-immune disease is expensive, but a cancer diagnosis along with this can come with unexpected costs.
Join us for updates on Mattie's fight against Hodgkins Lymphoma. As a person who puts others before herself, now is our time to support Mattie. All forms of appreciation and support for Mattie are welcome and we can't wait for her to ring the bell!
