Some of you may know that a great health tragedy struck my 51 year old sister, Luda Chernyak, a a month ago. On the afternoon of May 20th, 2023 Luda suffered a massive Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA) stroke that paralyzed the left side of her body, and caused severe nerve damage. Luda spent 7 days in the ICU after extensive brain surgery. She is currently in the rehabilitation hospital receiving daily OT, PT, and Speech therapy. We have been informed by the medical team that Luda's age gives her a greater chance of getting back to her vibrant self. However, the suggested therapeutic care facilities for her specific stroke and age group are out of state in Omaha and Iowa. Out of pocket costs for these facilities are astronomical and probably will not become a reality. Insurance will only cover facilities for a limited number of days since Luda is considered "young" for having a stroke, and we will most likely have to pick a local facility. The medical bills are starting to pile up, and we are expecting a lot more in the future. Luda will most likely need a wheelchair, extensive medical assistance, and various therapies when she is discharged.
