** Update**
Unfortunately Nate has lost his fight- he is no longer in pain . He will be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Please consider donating to continue to support Tanya and Lauren, Halie and Chase, as they navigate the hardest days of their lives ❤️
Katie and Laura

My name is Katie, and I am a long time friend of Nate and Tanya. For anyone who knows Nate and Tanya, you know that they have been through A LOT! Starting in January of 2019, Nate's health began deteriorating. As his health declined, he was hospitalized numerous times, sometimes for short stays, others were lengthy. Nate and Tanya also took several trips to Mayo, Froedert and Marshfield Clinic, all in hopes of finding "the cure" for Nate's deteriorating health. Ultimately he was diagnosed with HS (Hidradenitis Suppurativa- Hurley Stage 3). This causes extremely painful sores on his body, which in turn have led to infections as serious as Sepsis multiple times. Since 2019, there have been over 100 days that Nate has been in the hospital. Nate's most recent health scare began in 2020 with a routine outpatient procedure. However, this simple procedure left Nate with a 14 inch incision from his chest to his stomach, along with a colostomy bag and 3 wound vacs. Over the last 3 years, Nate has experienced infections, organ failure, extremely low blood pressure, and extreme pain. Alll of this challenged Nate's ability to function daily.

Obviously this has affected Nate's ability to work- he pushed himself to work from home, and to go into work on his sickest days, yet that wasn't enough. Nate lost his job of 27 years at the end of May. This also meant he lost his insurance. Insurance is very important to us all-especially when you are chronically ill. Nate also carried Lauren on his insurance, since Tanya is unable to work full time due to her Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

As you can imagine, Tanya and Nate are devastated by the loss of his job. What is even more concerning is that the medical bills that are already in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, will continue to pile up. As Nate works with his doctors to figure out his next steps health wise, he also has to figure out insurance, income, etc.

If you are able to donate at this time, any amount is helpful. We understand that this may not be feasible for everyone, so if you could at least share their story, so that it is heard, it is appreciated. Also, if you are the praying type, include them in your prayers! Thank you!
