On New Year’s Eve of 2024, our world shattered. What started as a simple concern about my dad not feeling well quickly spiraled into something we never could have imagined. After a series of tests, we learned that the pain he’d been experiencing wasn’t just the flu—it was cancer. Not just in one place, but in multiple areas of his body: his liver, lungs, adrenal glands, and today, we learned that it has also spread to his brain.
It feels as though the floor has been pulled out from under us. My dad, the man who’s always been the steady foundation of our family, is now facing a long and difficult fight ahead. He’ll need countless treatments, surgeries, and procedures. The medical journey ahead is daunting, and the financial burden of it all is weighing heavily on my parents. His diagnosis has forced him out of work, and every day we are confronted with a growing pile of medical bills. It breaks my heart to see my parents struggling, not just emotionally, but financially too.
But it’s not just my dad who is suffering. My mom, who has been his partner for 38 years, is heartbroken. She’s been by his side through everything, and now she watches the man she’s loved for nearly four decades face this cruel battle. I can see the mental and emotional toll it’s taking on her—she’s not just losing her best friend to illness, she’s carrying the weight of all the worry and fear for the future.
I wanted to ease some of their pain. I wanted to help them focus on my dad’s healing and not on how they’ll pay for it all. This GoFundMe is about more than just covering medical bills—it’s about giving them the peace of mind they deserve, so they can focus on what matters most: getting my dad the treatments he needs and supporting each other as they face this fight together.
My dad has always been my best friend, my role model, my everything. He’s the one who taught me how to be strong, how to stand up for what’s right, and how to never give up. Now, I just want to do the same for him. And I want to be there for my mom, too, to lift some of the burden off her shoulders as she’s been so strong for all of us.
If you can find it in your heart to help, no matter how big or small, you’re giving my family a chance to focus on what truly matters right now: fighting this disease with everything we have. Every little bit helps, and we are so grateful for the support.
Thank you for being there for us during this incredibly difficult time.
