Severe flooding across the Balkans has forced tens of thousands to evacuate and has already left more than 49 people dead.

7 Things You Should Know About Bosnia and Herzegovina

1) Bosnia is one of 20 poorest countries in the world
2) Every 6th Bosnian goes to sleep hungry
3) Approximately 890,000 Bosnian citizens live in poverty (total population - 3.834 million)
4) Over 20,000 citizens eat in public kitchens every day
5) The unemployment rate in Bosnia is 46.1%,
6) There are an estimated 200,000 landmines in Bosnia
7) And approximately 10,500 known minefields.

Every dollar that is donated will be used for direct assistance to flood victims in the form of food, water, and other necessities.

May 2014, multiple floods affected a large area of Southeastern and Central Europe. Rainfall in Bosnia and Serbia was the heaviest in 120 years of recorded weather measurements. By 20 May, at least 49 people had died as a result of the flooding, and hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes. Official counts indicate over 1.6 million people affected in Bosnia and Serbia, after only a week of flooding. Floodwaters caused over 2,000 landslides across the Balkan region, spreading damage across multiple towns and villages. Some towns in Bosnia were overflown by several meters high waters from nearby rivers.

Thousands are being evacuated from their homes because of flooding and landslides and those families need our help, whether it is to buy food, clothes or other necessities. On top of all that, the floods and landslides raise fears of nearly 120,000 unexploded land mines and their warning signs being toppled and in many cases dislodged the mines themselves.

Please note, most of these people don't have any type of income, no donation is too small or too large. Even a single dollar is enough to help feed a human being.

An attitude of gratitude. What to take away from this, never take anything for granted. Be thankful that it is not YOU, and please donate.

How I will distribute these donations depends on how much money we raise. I am still in the process at finding the right organizations, including Red Cross in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I will be visiting my homeland in August and I will make sure this money is distributed fairly. My plan is to first reach out to families who are uneployed and need medical assistance. I will keep you posted and up to date.

Together we can make a difference.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
