My name is Máxima Guerrero. I am a DACA recipient,  and for the past 10 years, I have dedicated my life to being active in my Phoenix community as an advocate for justice. From local electoral campaigns and issue-based campaigns for the DREAM Act, city, and county elections, I have maintained a commitment for our communities to be safe. I am currently a Youth Director working with high school students around the issues of school discipline, student advocacy, and leadership development.

May 31st I was taken in by Phoenix PD. After many hours I was then transferred to 4th Ave Jail (Where Penzone collaborates with ICE), and many hours from there I was transported to ICE facilities in PHX. At this point, I was set to be sent to Eloy Detention Center, which right now holds one of the highest numbers of COVID 19 positive cases.

As a result of community advocacy, and everyone's action, I am currently out in my own recognizance, but its not over yet.

I am thankful for all the prayers, love, and support I have received these past few days.

Grateful for all the community that did everything to mobilize.

Máxima
