Help Yuliia's mom get to safety from Ukraine

Many of you know Yuliia, our former exchange student from Ukraine and current student at Nebraska Wesleyan. Her mother, Oksana, has fled her home in Odesa, Ukraine, to escape the war. She waited for 27 hours to cross the border into Moldova, but the situation there is quickly deteriorating. We are raising funds to assist her in getting from Moldova to Germany. She now has a 4 day journey through the rural mountains of Romania and Hungary to reach Budapest and will cross 5 international borders before arriving in Munich. She is alone and scared and heartbroken and was not able to bring anything but a small suitcase of belongings when she left.

Matthew has booked a flight to meet her in Budapest to provide her with some resources and drive with her the rest of the way to Munich where they will try to find some intermediate term housing. Over 100,000 refugees are already in Hungary and hundreds of thousands are expected in Germany. Oksana has already met dozens of them, almost all women, most with children. We hope to help her get her feet on the ground and a place to stay and help others who are in her same situation.

We don't know what to do other than anything we can to help Oksana. We know she is only one of over 1.5Million refugees fleeing Ukraine, but she's family to us and while we are supporting other aid organizations ourselves and encourage everyone to help everywhere they can, this is too close to home to not do everything we can. Anything above and beyond what Oksana needs will be donated to UNHCR or other groups doing work with refugees on the ground.
