Help for Garrett

This is not an easy post to write but as family and friends we wanted to rally around and help ease the burden of our son, brother, husand, father and friend Garrett Palmer and his young family. This past May, Garrett discovered a mass that was found to be cancerous. He had surgery on May 16th, and the tumor was successfully removed. The cancer turned out to be an aggressive type with a high likelihood of returning. In November his labs came back with an extremely high marker and tests showed it had metastasized to the lymph nodes of his abdomen. Amid this shocking news, Garrett’s wife Monika found out she was pregnant, which was a silver lining because treatment will likely render them unable to have more children. They met with the oncologist and the news was good and they are very confident that the treatment will rid him of the cancer. Several months of chemotherapy was recommended and treatment was initiated right away. Garrett just finished his second round of chemo, and the side effects are many and are taking a toll on him physically. Garrett works hard to support his family and those of you that know him know he is kind, generous and would do anything for you. He has handled this whole situation with a smile and great attitude and without complaint.
Many have asked what they can do to help. Garrett is self-employed and does have health insurance. The expenses of this cancer battle are costly and even with insurance and the help of family it is a heavy burden. Our desire to help him is twofold.
1. To help with the costs of his coinsurances and uncovered costs as well as a new deductible starting in January.
2. To ease their financial burden because of the toll the treatment has taken on his ability to physically perform his job resulting in a loss of income.
Garrett and his family as well as all our entire family are so grateful for the prayers and outpouring of love and support that has been shown in this time of need. We know that there are many that are experiencing challenges as well and we are mindful of these and pray for you. We are grateful for the peace and joy that comes with this season of the year and wish each of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
