Hi everyone, my name is Kayla Pluym and I am best friends with Karissa and Alex Gaebe.

On August 2nd, Alex was involved in a traumatic car accident on his way home from a golf tournament. His best friend Devon was also with him. They veered off the road and hit a culvert. Devon was able to get out of the car; however, Alex had to be extricated. He suffered L2 and L3 vertebrae fractures and had to have his L1-L4 vertebrae fused. He also has a broken heel and is non-weight bearing for at least 4 weeks and is wheelchair-bound for that time.

Alex will also be out of work for at least 3 months. He is the main financial support in his family. He has saved lives as a trauma OR nurse and is currently furthering his education in medicine, and now it’s our turn to give back.
