Hey!

Most of you know may know me as Blue but my real name is Cyan!

I’m a full-time freelance illustrator & furry fashion designer based in the Netherlands.

I came out as trans publicly last year. However I knew I was not comfortable with my body ever since it started changing during puberty. I grew up in an unsafe environment so I kept myself in the closet until I was old enough and independent to finally come out as myself.

It has been an uphill battle getting access to the proper resources here in the Netherlands. There is inhumane gatekeeping on both hormone therapy as well as surgeries for the trans community including a no less than 3+ years waitlist for an intake appointment with a psychologist whose job it is to deem you “trans enough” to receive hormone therapy. The appointments with said psychologist can range anywhere from 6 to 12 months and, after all that, all I’d have is a referral.

Seeing how waitlists are only growing within the Netherlands, I’ve had to find my way to HRT via a trans association dedicated to getting HRT access for the trans community in Amsterdam.

However, they cannot do much for those of us who, like myself, need top surgery in order to get rid of a huge part of their dysphoria.

I need this surgery to relieve me of anxieties and give me back some of the confidence I had before my chest. I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror again. I want to go swimming. I want to never have a binder rash again. I want to be free to be me.

In order to do this, I will be flying to Spain where I will stay with friends and family, so that I can attend a clinic who works under informed consent and not under the guise that being trans is something that needs to be pathologically diagnosed. My identity is not a mental illness.

The process will take a total of 5 weeks, including: tests prior to the operation, the operation itself, removal of stitches and check-ups post op. Furthermore, the money raised will help me out a bit with covering costs whilst I am recovering and unable to work.
