My name is Autumn, and I am raising funds for my hardworking, dedicated, entrepreneur husband who suffered from a terrible medical condition that happened out of essentially nowhere.
On July 25th, my husband, Mark, had a normal day. We run a five-generation family farm. He was tending to our pasture, we had lunch together, then he asked me to go feed the pigs with him. He picked me up on our John Deere Gator and took me out to the pasture to feed the piglets. As soon as we started our feeding routine, he was not responding to me. Then all of a sudden, he fell over into a violent seizure. I immediately called 911, who came as quickly as they could, even though it felt so long to me. I was instructed by the dispatcher on how to give CPR and assist with the seizure as it was not breaking. When the hospital scanned his head, they found a brain bleed that was attached to a tumor. Unfortunately, through the night, with sedation, he was still seizing. They did another brain scan and found the bleeding and swelling was twice as bad, and they asked me to consent for an emergency craniotomy to save his life. He had a successful surgery where they removed the tumor, hematoma, and stopped the bleeding. Now it was time to let him rest, let the brain swelling go down, and pray that he would wake up. The following day, they did another surgery to remove another tumor they had found in a different area. He was fully sedated since the initial seizure, and he was not even aware himself of what he was going through. A total of 6 days later, he was taken off of breathing intubation and was awakened off of sedation. The tumors were expedited to pathology and returned as an aggressive cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, with how far the cancer has spread, he was diagnosed with Stage 4. He endured two more surgeries, one of which was to protect his airway, giving him a temporary tracheostomy. He has also already started chemotherapy. He spent a total of 35 days in hospitalization, most of that being in the ICU. He has a long road to recovery. This has been incredibly difficult as we had no indication that he was sick. He was always his spunky, outgoing, hardworking, dedicated self we always knew. This really came out of nowhere to us and hit incredibly hard and fast. I am creating this GoFundMe account on Mark’s behalf in hope to help cover some medical expenses and living expenses for himself and our three children. I have been by his side 24/7, getting him back to health as much as possible. Your donation will go to an extremely amazing man as he fights the good fight on his battle with cancer. Thank you very much.
