Juan is a hardworking, thoughtful, and sweet 17 year old sophomore.  He is a great student, one of the hardest working we’ve ever had, and a skilled welder. His dad was hospitalized for close to a month before he succumbed to Covid-19 on May 16th. Juan lost his family’s caregiver and breadwinner.  He is now responsible for helping support his family, and he’s faced with the prospect of quitting school in order to afford the basic necessities for himself and his siblings. On top of funeral expenses, medical bills, food, rent etc., Juan worries that his dream of graduating from high school and becoming a professional welder may never be realized.
