SAVING David LEAPER heart operation needed ASAP
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well.
Please read my story again?
I’ve included a lot more about David and why this funding appeal is so important to me.
Please keep a look out for more updates about David himself and some of the things, as a pensioner In Zimbabwe he does to provide for himself.
My name is Morag Pattinson, originally from Harare in Zimbabwe, Africa, however I now live in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom.
I am trying to raise funds for my friend of many years who needs to have an urgent heart operation.
He is David Leaper, lives in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa. He is a pensioner who has had 2 heart attacks. The first one was in 2013, the second in October 2021. David does not have the means to finance this treatment. Due to the harsh unstable economic situation in the country where unemployment is very high, inflation through the roof, basic food items are very expensive, periodic power cuts, shortage of clean water. David has a fascinating way of supporting himself. Health permitting he makes wood or charcoal burning stoves, barbecues, smokers, baking and roasting ovens from scrap metal and old car parts. They are not mass produced, so each and every one become a unique fully functioning piece of incredible art, thus making them an amazing article to have in your possession.
At this stage I think a bit of background information would prove to be very helpful.
About 25 years ago my 9 year old son and I found ourselves destitute and facing homelessness. David had an old cottage on his property which he used as a storeroom. He willingly cleared and cleaned it out thus making it habitable. It was such a relief, we had a roof over our heads and a place which was clean, dry and safe. With his late parents help I was able to make a lovely cosy home for the both of us.
Both David and his father took my son under their wings to help, support, encourage and teach him good working ethics and skills. David studied the Bible with my son and helped him through a terrific state he had been plunged into at such a vulnerable age.
Words and deeds just cannot explain or ever begin to show my gratitude for all the help and encouragement that I received at that time too. David and his wife always made sure that we were well looked after. They invited us over to share meals and upbuilding company with them, sometimes all it took was a cup of tea and a few listening ears. Their support was invaluable something I will never forget, nor would I want to. We were always looked after well and treated with the utmost respect. Our cottage became our haven of tranquility stability and peace.
I remarried a few years later and moved to the UK. Within 3 days of arriving in the country, my husband of just 16 months suffered a heart attack and passed away. Then just 4 years ago I lost my dear son due to medical negligence. Another blow to have to deal with.
Unfortunately life throws so many things at us, we just have to collect all the pieces, clean them then keep putting them together again
Through all of what has happened to me, I’ve always thought of how I’d seen that, no matter what had happened to David, he has never given up. I’ve tried to learn from his way of being so positive, supportive, kind, loving and empathetic.
He was referred to a hospital in South Africa as there are no facilities available for his treatment and
operation in Zimbabwe. He has had to travel to South Africa 3 times to try to get the proper diagnosis, vital treatment and operation. During the course of his visits to South Africa he had a number of blood tests, scans, x-rays, ECG's, hospital stays, changes in medications, then diagnosed as needing to have either 3 stents or open heart bi-pass surgery.
After all the tests were done and he returned to South Africa for the procedure, they would not perform the operation. There had been a directive from the South African government to the hospitals that no more people from Zimbabwe were allowed to have medical treatment. David was from Zimbabwe. Till then everything had been paid for, all he needed was the operation to rectify his heart condition. No amount of negotiations helped He was sent home in a very serious condition ,
His health is deteriorating, he needs to have the operation as soon as possible, otherwise he faces a very uncertain future. After using the majority of the donation he had received, on all the trips he had to make to South Africa and paying for everything to date, he now has no money left to start all over again in a much more stable environment in a different part of the world. The need for funding is great and urgent.
David is such a loving, empathetic, humble man who never asks for anything for himself, but gives generously and freely to everyone he comes into contact with, even making up food parcels using the little funds he has for himself, especially to those in need both physically and spiritually. He supports so many people in his warm Christian way, with such a loving, kind and gentle manner for them all.
i am trying to help my friend. Would you all please help me to do just that? Try digging deep down into your hearts, would you not like someone to try and raise funds for you if it were necessary? See how you could make a difference and help him regain his health, so he can continue serving his God in the way he does, give his Bible based talks, take care of himself and others in the congregation.
We have written quotes from hospitals here in the UK and abroad, so we already have the basic costs. The funds will be used to pay for whichever treatment the Cardiologists here in London or abroad decides is best for him, his travel to and from the United Kingdom or where he needs to go , visas, after care for up to a month, and his bills at home till he is able to earn a living again.
I will personally continue negotiations with the health professionals both here in the UK and abroad to get the best possible treatment for him, and be responsible for the disbursement of all of the funds.
We all know it’s impossible to try to save everyone going through such difficult times worldwide. Would you please give from your heart, to try and help my dear friend David so that he can get the correct treatment. No matter how small you think your donation will be, please remember every little bit adds up.
Some may say that they do not know either myself or David and feel that because of that they won’t contribute. Please ask yourselves, do you know exactly who the money will reach every time you make donations in any one of the numerous charities people donate to? Please think again and help donate to this fund for David’s life saving heart operation.
There will be regular updates as to David's progress, Please follow along as we try to get the best possible support for him so he can carry on helping and supporting especially those in need.
Thank you in advance for any help given and for sharing this fund appeal with all your contacts. Please keep on sharing it far and wide. The more it is shared the more chance we get of reaching people who would be moved by the story of my friend, David needs this heart operation as soon as possible.
Please keep him in your prayers too?
Warm Christian love and greetings.
