2025 has been a whirlwind of a year for us. For many years, I have struggled with low back pain, but in January, things hit a whole new height of pain. I started to experience excruciating and debilitating back pain, which created stress on multiple levels. After several months of no answers, many chiropractic visits, x-rays, and an MRI, I was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disorder, and multiple bulging discs. With this news, the doctor also delivered a large dose of reality, which meant chronic pain for the rest of my life and the possibility of multiple surgeries throughout my lifetime. As a mom of one lively little two-year-old, this has caused huge modifications to everyday life due to the intense nerve pain I experience daily. After much contemplation and a consultation with a surgeon, we have decided to proceed with back surgery to try and alleviate this pain. Although this will not be a long-term solution, we are hoping to prolong the next step of necessary surgery that will result in spinal fusion. This surgery is necessary to try to restore my mobility, alleviate pain, and allow me to try and resume life as a mom to my amazing little girl.
On May 27th, I will undergo my first surgery with a recovery of at least 6 weeks. This will result in being out of work for the duration of recovery. Unfortunately, I have limited PTO to cover this absence and no option for short-term disability. Chris has been working as much OT as he possibly can, all while his industry is also going into its slow period. My recovery will limit my ability to do simple tasks, and physical therapy will also be required. As you can imagine, being out of work for over a month with no income is incredibly stressful, especially while trying to focus on healing.
We are hoping to raise $3,500.00 to help cover the mortgage, groceries, utilities, and any medical expenses during this time. Every dollar will go directly to making sure I can recover without the fear and stress of falling into a financial hole.
If you can contribute, no matter the amount, it would mean a great deal to our family. And if you are not in the position to donate, sharing this page is just as helpful.
