Last November we exceeded our then capacity of 100 sick hedgehogs, this meant we had to turn people with sick and injured hedgehogs away; this was extremely stressful for us and the people/hedgehogs that needed our help.

We are determined to try and not let this happen again so in July this year we picked up the keys to our 2000 sq ft rented space. As you can imagine this is a bold and costly move on our part but we know that the Hedgehogs of the SW need our help and hopefully you will help us to help them. 

We now have the space but not the enclosures, our aim is to at least double our capacity with a mixture of smaller units and these commercial units we need your help with through this funding request. We need to find funding for 40 commercial units at £200 each, with a total cost of £8,000. Some of our commercial units are in the background, with a selection of the smaller units on the table in the foreground.

I felt it was better to separate the funding for the smaller units and shelves as time is not on our side, we are already taking in the hoglets that will be too small to make the winter (depending on weather conditions). There is also a lead time on the commercial units which means the longer they take to fund, the further we will go into the winter without them.  There has been a problem with the floor in our unit and it is still being repaired, this has meant there has been no space to house new units.

There is a huge demand for ELM's services and we are trying our best to meet those demands as quick as possible but we can't do it without your help. At present there are three of us working 12 hour days, every day, with a pool of 70 volunteers to back us up.
