Hi, my name is Harriet, and I am fundraising for a short film called Arpeggio.

We are a student film crew working to create a musical short film. We want to explore themes of love and grief. Most of all, how love perseveres through it all.

One morning on her way to work, Sandy spots “the one that got away,” Sonny, sitting in a coffee shop with his new girlfriend. Faced with the choice to go in and rekindle what they once had or keep walking, she reflects on their relationship from their first meeting to the moment she hurtfully left him. Torn between her heart and her head, Sandy ultimately lets the past remain the past and forgives herself for her mistakes.

We are making this film to accomplish two goals: to highlight themes of grief, and to show the power of choosing growth and the future over the past. We hope to accomplish this by turning our film into a musical. Music has the power to tackle emotion head-on, in a way that words and speech simply cannot.

Arpeggio explores a kind of love that rarely gets shown, one that ends in acceptance rather than reunion. The film shows what it means to love deeply, even when it hurts, and to grieve not only someone else but also who we used to be. It asks how love can last without clinging. At its core, the film is about choosing to grow instead of clinging to the past, and seeing how love keeps shaping us even after it’s over.

Music allows emotion to live where words fall short. Through song, movement, and cinematic storytelling, Arpeggio will turn internal conflict into something visible, raw, and deeply human.
