Hi, my name is Colleen and I’m disabled and I have a lot of health issues but the most important one, is that I have syncope, which causes me to spontaneously pass out. My dog Blu has been by my side from day 1. Blu doesn’t leave my side and is such a good, happy, and sweet dog. She has learned to alert my husband when I pass out or if no one is home she lays by my side until I wake up, or sometimes she licks me until I wake up. The most important thing Blu does for me is gives me emotional support and helps me with my depression. When I’m sad she lays with me and snuggles on my pillow, when I’m happy we play frisbee or tug of war with her toys.I can’t imagine my life without her.
In December Blu was diagnosed with Diabetes, in February she struggled through Pancreatitis and now she is blind.
She has given me so much and has been such a trooper through everything she is dealing with, but the blindness is heartbreaking. Watching her walk into things and withdraw from life is killing me. When she bumps into things she cries and when it’s time for her insulin she lets out cries of fear I never heard before. There is surgery that can be done to remove the cataracts but it is very expensive and money I get from Disability is just enough to pay the rent. So I am begging you from the bottom of my heart, please help me give Blu back her sight and let her enjoy life again, let her do her favorite thing in the world, let her play frisbee again, let her see.
Thank you,
Colleen and Blu
