Hi everyone,
We’re starting this fundraiser for our dear friend and sister, Amanda, and her husband, Nate—true high school sweethearts for over 20 years—who recently faced a series of hardships. After saving to move back home to NY and finally buying their home, they were hit with tough news: their well water is unsafe, a spot was found on Amanda’s right breast, and their beloved dog, Milo, needs surgery for a luxating patella. We’re rallying together to help lift some of this heavy burden.
Amanda had a lumpectomy but now has to undergo ongoing lymphedema therapy as a side effect. She completed an intense 22-day series of radiation treatments that has left her with long-term nerve damage in her arm. This type of cancer is estrogen-fed and there’s a slight possibility she’s allergic to the medication that is supposed to prevent recurrence. Last week doctors found a nodule on her thyroid that requires an upcoming biopsy.
Both Amanda and Nate have exhausted their sick time, and the savings they have set aside has been exhausted between buying their home, repairs to Nate’s truck, taking care of Amanda and appointments for Milo, as well.
Simply put:
• Traveling costs to and from Dr's appts, copays, and treatments have added up.
• The well needs a $9,900 filtration system to fix the high arsenic, sulfur, & pH levels.
• Milo’s surgery is quoted at $7000.
• To top it off, Amanda’s vehicle needs repairs after being hit by a bear (yes, a bear!)
Despite everything, Amanda has remained incredibly resilient. And if you know, Amanda is the Cupcake Queen!! She loves baking for family & friends, and it helps keep her mind off the uncertainty. While she loves being creative in the kitchen, there are days when she’s simply too tired to cook or bake- she’s drained physically and emotionally.
We are asking for support to help alleviate not just costs but the stress that weighs on them daily! While it won’t cover everything they are facing, every donation will take a significant load off and allow Amanda to focus on her healing. Any contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Simply sharing this campaign will help tremendously!
Thank you for helping Amanda & Nate (and Milo) through this challenging time.
Forever grateful: Janine, Gina, and Lavinia
