Help Lou Recover from Hit-and-Run Accident

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

We're reaching out today on behalf of our dear friend Lou, who has recently found himself in an incredibly difficult situation after a car accident on the night of 3/4/25.

While working as a delivery driver, Lou was involved in a hit-and-run car accident that has left him without a vehicle, a way to earn an income, and struggling to cover his essential living and unknown medical expenses.

Even with Lou having “full coverage,” his auto insurance is refusing to cover ANY of the accident-related costs due to a stipulation in policies regarding delivery service drivers being void of coverage while in the act of working as independent contractors. This insurance curveball was completely unknown to Lou and so many others. This has been an overwhelming setback for Lou, who is doing his best to stay positive despite the mounting financial burdens.

The Financial Strain
As of now, Lou faces:

Living Expenses: With no way to work and while he's recovering, Lou is struggling to keep up with basic living expenses like rent, food, and utilities. We are hoping to help get him through his recovery time and are budgeting $4,000 for a cost of living cushion for the unknown future and/or to go towards his next vehicle.

Medical & Legal Fees: Lou is in the process of seeking legal assistance to navigate the complexities of his case, as he works to resolve the issues with auto insurance, and now mounting medical expenses.
His health insurance will not cover any "auto accident" medical-related expenses as this should fall under his auto insurance policy which again, is not being covered here. We need to help get him the compensation he deserves and in the least try to bring justice to the unknown party at fault: https://www.reddit.com/r/Portland/s/n9HR2Ghjsj

Car Replacement Costs: His car, which was his sole means of transportation, has been totaled and in need of replacement. That said, he still owes $3,200 on his “totaled vehicle,” that should have been "totally covered." We're hoping for a goal of around $7,000 to see this through. Without a vehicle, Lou cannot return to deliveries or realistically find other work to support himself.

How You Can Help
We’ve set up this GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising $9,000+ to help Lou get back on his feet.

The funds will go directly to:

Covering his living expenses so that he can focus on recovery and rebuilding.

Assisting with his legal & medical fees to help him navigate the insurance complications and hold the responsible parties accountable.

Paying towards a car replacement so that Lou can get back to earning a living and supporting himself.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. If you're unable to donate, we’d be so grateful if you could share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to help spread the word.

Lou is one of the most hardworking, kind, and generous people you’ll ever meet, and right now, he needs our support more than ever. Together, we can help him rebuild and overcome this challenging time.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
With heartfelt gratitude,
~Team Lou!
