To all those who have ever connected to the beautiful life of Mila Mila, we need your support.

Before we share our needs, I'd like to share a bit about what has made Mila so unique in the lives of many...

Nearly eight years ago, Mila found me in the streets of Cusco, Peru. I had just completed an Ayahuasca journey on Halloween night, 2014, and had begun traveling alone for the first time in my young adult life. Mila was a tiny puppy who came and cuddled up with my feet, and she took a nap. When I went to get up, she seemed confused and walked into the street as a taxi came barreling toward her. I scooped her up and decided to keep her for one night...

Well... 8 years and five countries later, we are still here enjoying our days together. I had promised Mila all those years ago that if she stuck with me, I would provide her with the best life possible.

Little did I know then that she would become one of the most beloved therapy dogs at my wilderness therapy job and bring support and love to thousands of friends. Mila has accompanied me during all four seasons and for over 500 days of professional wilderness trips, and she's lived an entire and adventurous life. She is more than a pet; she is our family and needs our help.

Now we are at a significant intersection as Mila has been struggling for upwards of a year to enjoy even simple walks. We have been down an emotionally and financially draining path to discover what is bringing her so much pain. Recently, we learned Mila has severe arthritis in her back, and we have begun treatment to manage her pain.

A few weeks after this diagnosis, something went wrong when Mila was suddenly unable to walk down our driveway. We have learned she has torn ligaments in her back right leg and needs surgery if she hopes to recover from this injury.

We are asking for any support to cover this costly endeavor as we navigate how to bring Mila's health back to her. If you remember the magic of connecting to Mila's love or the love of many dogs, we ask you to consider supporting us with this surgery.
