Iowa Ambassadors of Music European Tour

Austyn has the opportunity of a lifetime, but we need your help.

 

His band directors have nominated him to be part of the Iowa Ambassadors of Music European Tour in July 2023. They will be spending five days preparing for the journey in Grinnell, Iowa. Then the fun begins. They travel to Chicago, IL, where they will board an international airline and make their way to London, England. From there, they will travel to Paris, France, Crans-Montana, Switzerland, Rothenburg, Germany, and end up in Salzburg, Austria. They will be traveling for 15 days, spending three days in each country and performing on some of the greatest stages there are, as well as having time to see some of the great site-seeing attractions.

 

As some of you may know, Austyn has been saving up for a school trip to Germany with his German class. However, it was hard to pass up when this opportunity arose. As excited as he was to go to Germany, he had to make a choice. Going on both is not an option financially since they both are within a month of each other.

 

Music is an important part of Austyn’s life. During his first three years of high school, he has not only participated in Marching Band, Concert Band, and the Jazz Band, he has even joined the choir this year. He is also on the tennis team and a member of the National Honor Society as well as the German version of the National Honor Society (Delta Epsilon Phi). He is even looking into the possibility of Band in college. He has worked very hard in high school, maintaining a 3.77 GPA with all his extracurricular activities as well as holding down a part-time job.

 

We would love to be able to give Austyn this experience of a lifetime, but with the cost of the trip, cost of the week in Grinnell preparing for the journey, extra spending cash for souvenirs, and the one meal a day he is responsible for, you can imagine the cost is quite high. With college on the horizon and preparing to be on his own, this opportunity would help prepare him for new and unknown responsibilities.
